One in Christ - For the Sake of the World
Israel is a place the world hears about almost every day. Much of what is seen and heard is shaped by war, conflict, tension and division. This reality is painful and impossible to ignore.
Yet, in the midst of this divided reality, another story is being written. Christ is bringing together people who, humanly speaking, would not be expected to stand together. Believers from different cultures, languages and backgrounds are worshiping together, praying together, serving together and gathering around the same table.
This is a living reminder that hope cannot ultimately be found in circumstances, politics or human solutions, but true hope is found in Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace.
Before going to the cross, Jesus prayed in John 17:21 "That they all may be one… that the world may believe that You sent Me."
These words reveal something profound about the relationship between unity and the Gospel. Jesus connected the unity of His followers with the way the world would recognize Him.
The witness of the Church is not found only in its knowledge, its words or its programs; rather, there is a powerful testimony in seeing followers of Jesus truly living as one.
Unity is not only part of the testimony of the Church; it is part of its mission.
When believers from different backgrounds and languages pray together, serve together and sit around the same table, a simple but important truth becomes visible:
The Church does not create unity; it reveals the unity that Christ has already created.
Paul writes in Ephesians 2:14" For He Himself is our peace."
Jesus does not simply offer peace. He Himself is our peace.
Through the cross, humanity has been reconciled to God, and the dividing wall has been broken down. The foundation of Christian unity, therefore, is not human agreement, diplomacy or the absence of differences, it is the work of Christ on the cross.
Unity is not a human achievement. It is a gift received in Christ.
And this reconciliation carries a mission.
In 2 Corinthians 5, Paul describes believers as "ambassadors for Christ". Those who have been reconciled to God through Christ are called to carry His message of reconciliation into the world. This message is proclaimed not only through words, but through lives, through love, forgiveness, service and the willingness to stand together across the divisions that so often separate people.
In a world marked by division, a united Church becomes a visible testimony to the power of the Gospel.
The world is searching for peaceJesus is the Prince of Peace
The world is searching for identityTrue identity is found in Christ
The world is searching for hopeThat hope is Jesus Christ
Unity does not require everyone to come from the same background, speak the same language, belong to the same people or think exactly the same way.
In fact, unity is not created when everyone thinks the same; it is found when everyone belongs to the same One - Jesus Christ.
